September 2021 Newsletter

September 2021 Newsletter

Welcome to my September 2021 Newsletter!

This year has shaped up to be more of a blend of virtual and (slowly but surely) in-person events, and I can’t thank you all enough for supporting me by continuing to follow  me on Facebook and Instagram and for sharing my posts!

I have been blessed and fortunate enough to continue to paint many commissions for clients over the summer, as well as have my artwork featured in new gallery exhibits and special events. I’m especially excited to announce my newest project in partnership with East Coast Sports Marketing, , ‘There Is Only One, the Most Iconic Trading Cards of All Time.”

As always, I have giclees available and  some unique signed pieces as well. In fact, there are some original paintings you’ll see featured in this newsletter.  I’m looking forward to amazing events that are happening later this year, and I look forward to seeing you there!

The Traveling Exhibition, ‘There Is Only One, the Most Iconic Trading Cards of All Time’ to Debut at September Philly Show, Friday September 24, 2021!

A gallery of the most iconic and valuable trading card Artwork ever painted will be unveiled September 24, 2021 at the Philadelphia Sports Card and Memorabilia Show, the nation’s longest running sports memorabilia show which is held three times a year at the Valley Forge Casino in King of Prussia, PA.

This project, ‘There Is Only One, the Most Iconic Trading Cards of All Time’ was conceptualized during the recent surge in the sports trading card market, and the title says it all, evoking feelings of anticipation and pride that make me so excited to be part of this project.

The air of suspense as fans wait to see the originals in person  is what makes the project both special and exciting to work on, and being able to view the re-creation of iconic sports masterpieces in person at 22 x 30, and in watercolor, is what make the traveling exhibition and sale so unique!

I love the contrasting mix of vintage and modern cards in this project, and different  challenges they present in the overall collection. Some of the “Mona Lisa’s “ of the card-world will be included in the new collection, and it’s noteworthy that I will never paint any sports card this size again in my career, ensuring that collectors will have the opportunity to own a very rare, original piece of art.

Having the opportunity to work with Joe Drelich and East Coast Sports Marketing has been an honorr, and we are proud to be able to highlight the sports-art side of collecting on a  fine art level.

The exhibition, ‘There Is Only One, the Most Iconic Trading Cards of All Time,’ will be on display at the September Philly Show, which runs from Friday September 24 through Sunday September 26, 2021 at the Valley Forge Casino in King of Prussia, PA. The initial reveal is a VIP invitation-only event to be held Friday September 24th from 7-8pm.

Tom Brady Artwork On the Cover of the Current Issue of SMR Magazine

I’ve painting Tom Brady a number of times, and creating the artwork for the September issue of SMR Magazine was a pleasure, ESPECIALLY  when PSA Cards gave me a heads up about Tom’s post regarding being on the cover…

Latino Sports Awards

Javy Baez finally received his 2018 Latino Sports MVP Award at Citi Field earlier this month. I was supposed to present to him the original painting in 2019, but he was very honored to have finally received it.

Latino Sports also posted an article giving a shout out to Miguel Cabrera, who joined the 500 home run club last month. In the article (click her for link) you’ll see a few images of me with Cabrera and Julio Pabón presenting the Latino Sports MVP Award some years ago in the dugout at Yankee Stadium. It was fun presenting my painting to him!

My artwork is part of D&R Greenway Land Trust’s new exhibit “Recovery” in partnership with the Garden State Watercolor Society

“This river-focused 51st Annual Juried Exhibition will be available for reserved timed viewings from August 11 through October 17, 2021. Along with the juried exhibit, in the lobby of the Johnson Education Center, visitors will be greeted with the Garden State Watercolor Society’s 3rd Annual Art Installation of over 100 mini-paintings illustrating aspects of the Delaware River, displayed among river stones.”

Celebration of Life for American Hero Lt. Col Bob Vaucher

It was an honor to have known and painted this American hero. Lt. Col Bob Vaucher’s life was celebrated in August  at Solberg Airport. It was a privilege to have met him and his family on multiple occasions; to have heard his amazing life stories firsthand. To celebrate Bob’s life by painting his portrait was important for me – it’s a way to share his story and preserve his legacy.

To have met Bob through D & R Greenway and the preservation of the Steele’s Gap property was in itself, a very special experience. My hope is that this portrait will reflect both the pride Bob felt in his Hall of Fame military career and service to our country, and his life-long commitment to preserving the land and our history.

I know I share the sentiment of many in this community when I say that those of us who live in freedom will always be grateful to the heroes who helped preserve it, and Lt. Col. Bob Vaucher will forever be one of those heroes.

Salute to N.J. WWII Hero, Richard Betts

I recently painted this portrait of a local hero, whose story I’m honored to share here…
Richard Betts “served with courage and sacrifice in the Navy in WWII on the attack transport USS Henrico (APA-45). Richard was deployed in both the Asiatic and European theatres. He experienced engagements in the D-Day Invasion of Normandy, the Invasion of Southern France, supporting action off Leyte, Philippine Islands, and the Invasion of Okinawa where he survived injuries from a kamikaze attack off of Okinawa for which he received a Purple Heart. “
In honor of Betts, the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Chapter 700 of
Hunterdon & Warren Counties recently changed its name to the “Richard Betts Chapter 700 MOPH.”

Exciting day at RC Collectibles in Lebanon NJ! Friend and actor Dominic Pace (Bounty Hunter Gekko in the Mandalorian) was in the house all afternoon, greeting fans and signing autographs.

As part of the festivities, I had the opportunity to present Dominic with this original 14×14 watercolor, which was a blast to paint!
